Geogrid is widely used in reinforcing
soft groundwork, high road mound, erect quay, and road surface
etc with excellent armored performance, which has much thing
to do with the constructing process and techniques.The constructing
means are as followed:
I、 Armored groundwork
Techniques & spec
Raft-cushion style：spread grid on the soft groundwork when
the field is wide and flat, basal slope does not need washing
and engineering vehicles can not directly walk on it, to shape
a cushion. The cushion is 0.5-1.0m thick and there are 1-3
layers of geogrid.
Bedding style：in case that the building has high requirements
on sedimentation and distortion, or there is a layer of geologic
duricrust on the earth's surface, spread grid armored groundwork
in hidden bedding. The bedding is 0.5-1.0m and there are 1-3
layers of geogrid.
Bearing style：for the important buiding and hi-stress base,
spread the grid on the double base with pickets or minesto
increase the bearing capacity and decrease sedimentation.
E.g. bedding: excavate bedding——spread geogrid—join &
rivet geogrid—backfill soil—flatten—grind & press—then
go back to step 3 (spread geogrid) till to the required height—end
II、 Techniques & spec
Claybank should be built on the steady bedding. If there
is limits on the building site and steeper claybank is needed,
spread geogrid along claybank.
Type & structure
Slope style：when claybank is not very high（less than 8M），grade
is small（1：1），side slope can be changed into incline slope.
Spread the geogrid along the slope. Its level length can be
equal or not equal, depending on the design. Length is about
2-3m. Longitudinal space between grid layers is 0 for equal
length and 3-0, 5m for equal length.
Constructing process:Level up the sloping field—stack sandbag
or make mould on the surface—spread geogrid—joint & rivet
geogrid—filling soil inside the mould—fold to slope surface
and rivet it—filling & grinding—filling the upper layer—remove
the nether mould—then go back to step 2 (stack sandbag or
make mould on the surface) till to the required height—surface
III、 Armored road surface
Making use of compartmentation and side restriction to reduce
crack on the surface, decrease track trail, prolong the maintenance
period, thin the grass roots & road surface, etc.
